I remember a bus response that I gave to one of my mentors over three years ago: "Mr X, so you may be". I understood then what he meant. I understand though that we need to let things happen as they do and I use the principles they know.
Behind the lines that were (and are) something more: Law permission. This article explains the main ideas behind the law and is a starting point. From experience I say that you need to see how these ideas apply what you do every day. You probably do not feel a pleasant emotion. Therefore permission is not the same as tolerance.
