Sylvia Plath is one of the most popular and accomplished poets of the twentieth century. But since her suicide, in spite of the effort of outstanding critics, the obsession with events of her real life, more often than is good for poetry, continues to be the focus of attention, rather than her poetry itself. Such an approach ignores or even denies the conscious artist in her. But with a writer like Plath it is impossible to separate her poetry totally from the events of her life.
