Writing has been considered as an art form in many cultures since time immemorial, not just regarding the shapes and styles of letters and pictograms, but also as an expression of meaning.
‘The Pen’ takes this idea further by looking at the in depth process of this art, showing where the thought behind the words comes from and how an inherent state of essential mind may bridge the gap between conflicting perspectives.
It is life’s greatest purpose to be able to use this tool as a practical application in our daily lives as it is the very core of our nature, an intrinsic awareness that is pure, stainless and simply knowing its essential nature, yet containing the greatest potential of the human being.
As an allegory of this, in the text itself the writer talks directly to a pen that is about to write something, telling it to place mind in a natural state of awareness and let the words pour forth through its nib so that this perfect state may never be lost in the words that arise on the blank page, but just be transformed into them.
This monologue continues to encourage the pen, as the writer, to thus echo this ultimate mode of being into the mind of the reader of the text and in this way achieve the highest aim of writing by coming from a totally unbiased viewpoint so as not to confuse the reader with different perspectives and individual judgments.
It is emphasised that its sole aim must be to express what it has to say accurately, so that what emerges through it will be pure and clear from its source awareness rather than fabricated with its own points of view.
‘The Pen …A Way of Writing’ is a revised edition of the first section of ‘The Rainbow Bridge…directly perceiving emptiness whilst holding appearance’, a comprehensive compilation conveying an overall understanding of the nature of awareness. (www.pyramidkey.com)
