The Odditorium is a collection of seven stories and a novella. Most of the pieces are based on unusual or enigmatic historical figures, and all look at the ways architecture exerts subtle or unsubtle pressures on human consciousness.

Melissa Pritchard's skill as a writer has been honed over four novels and three story collections. Her distinctive voice is on full display in this collection, both her obsessive attraction to characters generally regarded as "outsiders" and her flare for baroque and highly lyrical prose.

This collection will be of interest not only to readers of literary fiction but to those who like creative spins on traditional genres. The stories in The Odditorium utilize the conventions of historical fiction, mysteries, gothic horror, tales of the supernatural and unexplained, and stories of the Wild West.

Two of her books, Spirit Seizures and An Instinct for Bliss, were New York Times Notable Books.
