"A white sow, the Haen Wan, had been seen in the wooded hills above the Dun. The white sow had great power it was a sacred animal to all, not to be harried. The Druids said it linked the world we lived in with the Anwan , the other world. Hwuw was not a deep man. He thought if he killed the Haen Wan he would gain great power. It was for luck on his hunting trip that he took Dafydd with him. They rode from the fields into the Greenwood. Then deeper into the Mirkwood - the dense forest. They had seen the tracks and tufts of boar hair but no sign of the beast itself. In the forest the great aged trees of oak and ash stood high together, with green holly beneath. They wearied from the chase. When a glade opened up amid the trees they stopped to rest. They were alone"
