The ability to think, imagine and dream is in the DNA of every man, woman and child on this earth. The Bible says God causes his rain to fall on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45), which means that everything that we experience is common to all humanity.
When you dream at night you are opening yourself up to the realm of the spirit as your conscious mind recedes into the background and your subconscious mind takes control. We need help to guide us through the uncharted waters of the spirit.
If you are in a canoe with someone else and one person does all the paddling, you will go around in circles. But if both people are paddling, each on opposite sides of the boat, you will be able to steer it to where you want to go. It takes two to direct your dreams, God and yourself. God doesn’t do it for you and you cannot do it by yourself, it is a partnership, a cooperative effort between God and you.
“After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.”
(Revelations 4:1-2 NIV)
The first thing I want you to understand is that God is trying to pull John back to his original state of being. The Bible makes it plain that we are spirits having a human experience.
In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul compares our earthly body to a tent in which we, that is our spirit, dwell.
The true, authentic self is spirit sent into the natural realm to inhabit a body and experience human life. When we dream, the dream generator in our subconscious mind is connecting with the things that already are in the realm of the spirit.
