The Law of Attraction - Misunderstood & Misinterpreted

A Larger Spiritual Paradigm

Robert Burney is an author, counselor, and Spiritual Teacher who is a pioneer in the area of codependency recovery / inner child healing.  He has been referred to as "a metaphysical Stephen Hawking"  and his first book Codependence: The Dance of Wounded Souls has been called "one of the truly transformational works of our time."  The following is his explanation for why he wrote this eBook.

“I first wrote about imbalance and misinformation that I was seeing in the New Age movement in 1999. And then in 2001 wrote an article entitled New Age Misinterpretations of Metaphysical Truth.  After The Secret came out in 2006, I felt the urge to expand on what I had touched upon in the Misinterpretations article because I was seeing so many people hurt because of the ways in which spiritual teachers, new age gurus, and New Thought churches were/are teaching the Law of Attraction.  

It wasn't until 2008 however - after observing how passionate I was about this topic while responding to some questions in a workshop - that I actually wrote the article this book is based upon.  My reasons are summed up in the following paragraph which you will see later in this book.

“I am publishing this book because I believe that the way the Law of Attraction is being taught by most people who are teaching it today is not ultimately Loving.  I believe it is being taught in a way that makes many of the people hearing it feel ashamed;  in a way that causes people to focus on reaching a destination at the expense of being present in the now;  in a way that reinforces the delusion that there is something inherently wrong with being human, with human beings.  It is also being taught by most spiritual teachers in a way that discounts and devalues emotions and emotional healing.”

The way the Law of Attraction is being taught does a disservice to many people who buy into the illusion that they can create anything they want in their lives;  who get caught up in the codependent destination thinking they were programmed with in childhood;  who feel ashamed because of how their life has unfolded because of the negative thinking that was actually caused by growing up in emotionally dishonest and dysfunctional, spiritually hostile, codependent culture / civilization that was created by planetary conditions;  who get the message that they are doing something wrong if they feel fear or have a disease or don't have financial abundance in their lives.

Many very enlightened, loving spiritual teachers are teaching the Law of Attraction in a way that contradicts the very Truth they are trying to share.  It makes me both sad and angry, and that is why I wrote this eBook.
