The Jacobite Rebellion

The Jacobite Rebellion is a story with a host of bizarre characters and happenings. It follows the story of our hero, Charles Edward Stuart, who is involved in the plot due to mistaken identity. He is arrested and held at the police station before later being released. At home again he answers the door to Flora Macdonald, who persuades him to join her on a journey to Scotland, pursued by DCI Cumberland. In Scotland, Charles is taken to Brady Castle where he meets Colonel Macpherson who is plotting to overthrow the Hanoverian Monarchy and replace the Queen with the real Charles Stuart. Our hero is a useful decoy. In the castle is also his father, the mad Major, who believes he is still trying to escape from Stalag XXI whilst dressed in women’s clothing, as he believes that Brady Castle is the wartime camp. At a barbecue, DCI Cumberland is accidentally hit on the head with a fire extinguisher. Suffering, he makes his way to the Culloden Battlefield where the Queen, who is staying at Castle Brady, is opening a new visitor’s centre. A battle breaks out between the police, who are holding the Major and Colonel Macpherson. The action finally moves to London in time for the London Marathon, which is attended by the pretend Charles Stuart and the Colonel dressed as Tom and Jerry. DCI Cumberland, in his frustration, begins to shoot at anyone in a cat costume. Can the real Charles Stuart make it across the Channel in time?
