Cho Chongnae is one of South Korea's greatest living writers, and yet much of his work remains untranslated. This is the most ambitious project yet to bring his work to an English-speaking audience.

Cho's novels have sold more than 16 million copies in South Korea thus far, a record in Korean publishing.

The Human Jungle has been translated into Chinese and was being reviewed by China's censors as of this writing. Its publication (or censorship) will generate news in China and Chinese communities overseas.

While overall foreign language study is down across the US, Korean language enrollees at US universities has shot up 45% from 2009 to 20013, according to the LA Times and NPR, largely because of a fascination with Korean pop culture.

The novel provides a unique view of China, as seen through Korean eyes, that should interest all China watchers.

Bruce and Juchan Fulton are widely considered the top English translators of Korean literature.
