This is the sequel to Drowning in Her Eyes. Jack and Susan return to the farm, where they tend the land, and their family increases. Jack still has an association with the army, and is involved in annual exercises with his battalion. Meanwhile, Muslim extremists plan to capture ships in the seas of south East Asia and hold them and their crews for ransom.

Jack and his men stumble across a pirated ship in the wilds of northern Australia and foil the pirates. Their leader escapes and plans revenge for Jacks action. He attempts to kill one of Jacks men, but fails and escapes to Fiji. Eventually, he goes to the US, where he plots to blow up the Lincoln memorial in an attempt to redeem himself and gain a place in Paradise. Along the way, he takes captive Susan and her children. But his plan fails, and he is killed by Jack.

This frantic action is conducted against a backdrop of the trials and triumphs of a farming family, battling drought and capricious markets, whilst building a business that proves successful because of the hard work and the dogged determination and resourcefulness of Jack and Susan.

But the tale has a twist. Some of the extremists break out of jail in Sydney and set out to find and kill Jack and his family, and they very nearly succeed!
