The group agrees to conduct a mission posthaste to find the Tree themselves, hoping to discover the fate of the lost boy. They set out in high hopes and fairly good spirits, only to find their urgent quest delayed when they are attacked by a crowd of vicious young warthogs. It seems that they have interrupted these warthogs in the midst of an orgy of unlawful activity in the South Savannah.

The band easily subdues these wayward youths. In the aftermath, however, the situation is complicated and their quest further delayed by one of their own members. The judge presiding over the Seventh Juridical district is a litigious and contentious horned owl. He insists upon bringing full charges, in warthog court, against the delinquents, and the quest is jeopardized. The entire entourage must now proceed, prisoners in tow, to the infamous Hawg City, where they become entangled in a legal system of a highly materialistic society with a unique system of ethics. Only after considerable difficulty and aggravation does the band finally disengage from these warthogs and the Hawg City judiciary and continue their quest to its end.
