Sarah and her cousins Tom and Vicki inherit a large Victorian home by the ocean on two hundred and fifty acres in Newport, Rhode Island. Someone is trying to buy the property for millions of dollars. Sarah is undecided about selling. However, her cousins are anxious to get their hands on the money.
While taking a ride on her horse someone takes a shot at Sarah. They miss her but her horse bucks throwing Sarah off as she hits her head on a tree. She gets up, sees herself, and says "I must be dead." A voice behind her says "You're not dead." Shocked Sarah turns around to see a very handsome man standing there surrounded by a bright light. Sarah looks from where she is lying back to the man a couple of times before she asks trembling "What are you doing here?" The man smiles "I'm here to take you back into the past. We are going to visit the early 1920s."

Evan Taylor finds a horse and wonders where the rider is. Holding its reins he leads the horse back to where he thinks it belongs. On the way, he discovers Sarah lying on the ground. He picks her up and takes her to a nearby hospital where she lies in a coma.
