The Hangman's Daughter

The hangman is a wealthy man, a renowned executioner favored by the king. Word has it his wife is beautiful, though she has no been seen outside his home in many years. His true prize, and the jewel of his life, is his grown daughter. She doesn't stray from his side, accompanying him on his grim business with a smile. He's made a point over the years of rebuffing any suitors on her behalf, but the blacksmith's son has a mind to go behind his back and directly to the object of his affections. When faced with a choice between father and lover, she follows her fancy without a second thought, but when father and lover clash, her future becomes far more uncertain, and far stranger, than she could guess.
