The first music history reference book of its kind! We reveal the greatest popular music albums, both composed and performed by the same artist or artists. The premise being the artists must have written or co-written and also performed, either vocally and/or instrumentally on every track contained on their album. These are the most talented artists in the world of popular music! They possess immense talent and were able to craft their music as they meant it to sound. After years of research, this can be considered a definitive list of the best of the best in this particular category.
The book begins with a short history of recorded music. Included are the different phases the recording industry has endured through the years and what those phases meant to both the artists and the general music buying public.
The book covers all popular music albums from 1948, (when the era of the long-playing album began), through 2012. The genres of popular music and the criteria used to form this endeavor are carefully explained and after that the albums finally are disclosed.
Each choice is listed in alphabetical order by artist. The title of the collection, the label on which it was recorded and the genre of music is listed, along with every track on the album followed by a brief synopsis full of interesting facts.
The book covers all artists alphabetically from A through L. (We are currently working on our follow-up which will cover artists M through Z). The contents are a music lover's delight that will both educate and entertain the reader as to the albums that are the best from the artists chosen.
Also contained in this effort is a brief bio and qualifications of the two individuals involved in the creation and completion of this most interesting book.
