The Game of Poker - A Brief History

A brief, concise story of poker, from its origins to the American game of draw poker. The game started out being played without drawing—resulting in a very dull, little played gambling game. It was just no fun at all.

Then, during the Civil War, stud and eventually draw poker were developed. Within a short number of years, draw poker overtook faro, monte, and twenty-one as the top gambling game of the Old West.

Though the origins were from Europe, draw Poker is a totally American game. Today, Texas Hold'em is the most popular game of the world
