The Fortieth Day

Kazim Ali is a well-known younger poet whose first book, The Far Mosque (Alice James Books), sold through its first printing and continues to sell. Ali now writes a regular feature on contemporary poetics and culture for The American Poetry Review which will further establish his reputation. He has many contacts in the poetry world and will call on them for readings, reviews, and publicity. He lives in the Bronx and will read and promote extensively around New York City. Raised in an Islamic household and a dedicated practitioner of yoga, Ali addresses issues of spirituality and meditation in his poetry in a fresh, provocative way.
