The Fifth Victim

The town of Evergreen is a peaceful one until October 1st comes around. For the past five years, months before October, a girl receives a white post-it note with a number written on it. Their number. When Angie Brennan receives the number four, she keeps it to herself, and tries to face the killer that has evaded the police for three years. When Angie is the next to fall to the killer, her two best friends Ena and Allison are crushed by her death. Six months later, Madge Ivers receives the number five, telling her she has six months left to live. She is confronted by Ena and Allison, two girls she bullied throughout their school years. They offer to put the past behind them, asking Madge to work with them in discovering the killer's identity before October comes. Madge agrees, and as they work together, the three girls develop a close bond, especially Madge and Ena when their feelings for each other grow beyond friendship. The two girls Madge once hated become her most loved and trusted as everyone else she ever knew has become a murder suspect.
