The return journey to Falanholme bearing the key to the riddle of The Dread Imposition is fraught with danger, as The Darkness attempts to prevent Calladhor and his companion, Artanis from reaching their homeland.
Eventually, they succeed; and Calladhor learns that minions of the Darkness have destroyed his Halls and his Bondmate, Arlanna whilst he was absent. The son she carried, is however safe and unharmed.
When he returns from Arlanna's Cairn, the change in his character is palpable. He has become that which he always had been; but had chosen not to embrace... Master Magus of The Knights of the Eternal Watchtower.
Now, the fearsome, and terrible power of The Light is at his command; his invocation of which, in time, will thrust The Darkness back into the Abyss; never to return.
