Everywhere that 28 year old Roberta Bailey looks she sees love but none of it ever seems to come her way. The last blow in was to help her cousin's friend, Mark, plan a proposal to his girlfriend Sheridan. She watches as another perfectly planned event is executed by her company. She worked in collaboration with a restaurant and now has to deal with the restaurant owner in terms of payment. This is about the third event she has planned at this restaurant.
The owner is 32 year old David Nugent. He asks Roberta for a few of her business cards to give to a few clients. In reality he is interested but is not quite sure how to approach her as he is a bit introverted. He devises a scheme to get a little bit more into her space and hires her for himself to plan a surprise for a family member of his. The planning throws them together and ultimately one night after slaving over the final details they end up sleeping together.
The day of the party arrives and Roberta does a brilliant job. She seeks out David to recap and possibly decide what to do after the party when she overhears a conversation between David and someone who appears to be his ex. . . .
