Murder, mayhem, and Rock n Roll, add in a serial killer from Hell and all combine to make a very interesting read in this tense thriller from Hertfordshire-based author Nigel Ledsham-Darter. It’s nineteen-seventy-nine and Margaret Thatcher has just come to power. On the back of the punk movement there are many bands that now believe they have what it takes, and for Si’ managing the struggling band “Time Matters” is his dream, whilst managing the fragile egos of its members is somewhat of a nightmare.
On the streets of North London, a merciless misogynistic serial killer is stalking the streets, gaining in confidence with every kill, gaining gratification from every new sickening perversion.
This is a harrowing story told at a very human level, immersing the reader deeply into both the location and the lives of its well-drawn characters. Late 70’s London is described in pinpoint detail with a sense of place and a sense of a loss of innocence as Britain is taken screaming into the turbulent 80’s.
DI Charlie Sinclair believes that this is not just another ordinary case. He is only too painfully aware that the body count is likely to keep rising, a niggling gut feeling his years of experience is telling him.
So much more than a police procedural, exploring as it does the true essence of evil and the profound destruction it wreaks, not only on the unfortunate victim but also how it affects those close to them.
As the story progresses we are drawn into a whirlpool climax from which there may be no escape.
Inexorably the strands of each life entwine with each existence magnetically attracted to one another as the core of evil grows – becoming stronger and more perverse with every new victim.
Not a book for the faint-hearted. (Contains strong language and sexual references)
