Sixty-seven-year-old Mary is not running away from lifeshes looking for a better life. While driving on vacation, she happens upon a billboard that advertises the quaint little town of Welcome Home. As she makes a detour to check out the town, Mary realizes her fate has already been decided when she tours a cottage for sale that resembles the same home she has been dreaming about for years. After she buys the cottage, Mary is propelled into a new beginning.

As Mary acclimates herself to life in the sociable town, she becomes friends with long-time residents Cindy, a waitress in a local restaurant and Grace, a librarian who invites Mary to worship at her church. Meanwhile, seventy-one-year-old Sara moves to town with her son and step-granddaughter just as Mary is becoming enlightened about the special quality of life that surrounds Welcome Home. As the ladies develop a bond, it soon becomes apparent that their once uneventful lives will now be filled with unforgettable adventures that include visitations from other planets and life forms.

Through all of their eye-opening experiences, Mary and her girlfriends will come to the realization that whatever the future holds, they will savor the moments with open arms.
