The Great Sioux Trail (1918)
The Great Sioux Trail is the first of a group of romances concerned with the opening of the Great West just after the Civil War, and having a solid historical basis. They will be connected by the presence of leading characters in all the volumes, but every one will be in itself a complete story.

World War I Series -
The Guns of Europe (1915)
"The Guns of Europe" is the first of three connected romances, of which "The Forest of Swords" and "The Hosts of the Air" are to be respectively the second and third, dealing with the world war in Europe.It was the singular fortune of the author to be present at the beginning of this, the most gigantic struggle in the history of our globe. He was in Vienna the day Austria-Hungary declared war upon Servia, thus setting the torch that lighted the general conflagration. Returning westward, he reached Munich the day Germany declared war upon Russia. He remained in Germany nearly a month, having witnessed in turn the Austrian and German mobilizations, and then arrived in England in time to see the gathering of the British Empire's armed hosts.

The Forest of Swords (1915)
"The Forest of Swords," while an independent story, based upon the World War, continues the fortunes of John Scott, Philip Lannes, and their friends who have appeared already in "The Guns of Europe." As was stated in the first volume, the author was in Austria and Germany for a month after the war began, and then went to England. He saw the arrival of the Emperor, Francis Joseph, in Vienna, the first striking event in the gigantic struggle, and witnessed the mobilization of their armies by three great nations.

The Hosts of the Air (1915)
"The Hosts of the Air" is the third and concluding volume of the World War Series, of which "The Forest of Swords" and "The Guns of Europe" were the predecessors. It deals primarily with the love story of John Scott and Julie Lannes, but all the characters of the earlier books reappear in this romance also.

Civil War Series -
The Guns of Bull Run (1914)
The first in a series of four, this gives a picture of events which prefaced the war and ends with the battle of Bull Run. The hero, who is very strong and brave, is a southern boy, the great-grandson of the renowned Henry Ware and the son of a West Point man. He hears the first gun at Fort Sumter, is present at the inauguration of Davis, and goes on various dangerous missions. Southern side, unprejudiced and not gory.

The Guns of Shiloh (1914)
'The Guns of Shiloh,' a complete story in itself, is the complement of 'The Guns of Bull Run.' In 'The Guns of Bull Run' the Civil War and its beginnings are seen through the eyes of Harry Kenton, who is on the Southern side. In 'The Guns of Shiloh' the mighty struggle takes its color from the view of Dick Mason, who fights for the North and who is with Grant in his first great campaign.

The Scouts of Stonewall (1914)
"The Scouts of Stonewall," while an independent story, is in effect a continuation of the series which began with "The Guns of Bull Run" and which was carried on in "The Guns of Shiloh." The present romance reverts to the Southern side, and is concerned with the fortunes of Harry Kenton and his friends.

The Sword of Antietam (1914)
"The Sword of Antietam" tells a complete story, but it is one in the chain of Civil War romances, begun in "The Guns of Bull Run" and continued through "The Guns of Shiloh" and "The Scouts of Stonewall." The young Northern hero, Dick Mason, and his friends are in the forefront of the tale.

The Star of Gettysburg (1915)
"The Star of Gettysburg" is a complete romance, but it is also one of the series dealing with the Civil War, beginning with "The Guns of Bull Run," and continued successively through "The Guns of Shiloh," "The Scouts of Stonewall," and "The Sword of Antietam" to the present volume. The story centers about the young Southern hero, Harry Kenton, and his friends.

The Shades of the Wilderness (1916)
The romance in this story reverts to the Southern side and deals with the fortunes of Harry Kenton and his friends. It takes them on the retreat fromGettysburg, gives the hero a short period of social life in Richmond, describes the great battles of the Wilderness and Spottsylvania, and ends
