Andy took his I-D card out of his pocket and held it up for the man to see and he said. ‘I am Inspector Henderson and this man is Sergeant Joe Banks.’
‘Here you are sir I was not being funny but the constable did say only police.’
‘Oh no your right sir I wish some of my constable did as you did no thank you very much.’
Andy turned the key in the lock and went in.
They went into the front room first and went around the room looking inside of two big clocks and the sideboard but they found nothing there.
They moved into the kitchen this search took a bit longer but once again they could not find anything.
When they were satisfied that the ground floor held no secrets they decided to go upstairs.
They went upstairs and Andy said. ‘To save time Joe you take the room on the right and I’ll go left.’
Joe went into the first room and he could see that it was just a store room there was an old table and a set of old draws. He went through them and then he went to the room next door and when he walked in he saw at once this is where the man had been sleeping he started again but he was half way through this room when he heard Andy shout. ‘Joe come in here I think I might have something.’
When Joe walked into the room he saw Andy sitting on the bed with a great big black book in his hands.
