From The Chronicles of The Soak 00:00:01--While I consider myself a fairly decent communicator face-to-face, I probably haven’t written anything longer than a song since college. In fact, truth be told, I probably have no business writing anything other than songs. So as the idea of telling my life’s story was brewing in my mind, it became clear that I was going to need some serious help getting started. I kept thinking, “Since I’ve never done anything like this, I’m probably going to need a proven template to help get me moving in the right direction.” I pondered on the books I had read throughout the years, considering whether any of them might help jump-start my story. The wondrous relational adventure The Shack, written by William Paul Young, quickly came to mind and it was his beautiful story that became my personal guide during the first few months of scribbling in my truck while down at the beach. As soon as I finished the first draft, I e-mailed it with high, but doubtful, hopes that Mr. Young might receive it. Well, holy moly, he did, and he even embraced the idea of using his creative structure to help begin my what-does-it-look-like narrative. His few but kind words have been of tremendous help during the many times when I thought, “I just can’t do this” and wanted to quit. Anyway, I cannot offer a big enough thank you. Sometimes the simplest of encouragements can touch our hearts in the deepest ways. This living biography, or the chronicles of my Soak, has been one of the most fulfilling projects on so many levels, both internally and externally. I have learned throughout this process that the CEO of the Universe speaks to us in a voice that we each, individually, understand. Now, of course I cannot prove this, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Before I lived through the story you are about to read, I had no idea many of these wonderful heart-truths really existed or what they would look like when translated into real life. When you get to certain areas, you will wonder how much of it is true. I assure you that, to the best of my recollection, this is what really happened, and these are the things that I have walked through.--Clark
