Matthew 24:14 English Standard Version (ESV)
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Of course, Jesus would not have doubted his own words, because he had foreknowledge that they would be fulfilled in the whole world before the end came. Jesus would have known that, in time, an army of disciples would eventually respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit. (Ps. 110:3) What would this army of disciples do? They would effectively evangelize the whole world, from their community outward. While we do not know the day, nor the hour of Jesus' return (Mark 13:32), one sign of that return will be true Christianity entering the arena of the evangelism work, in a major way. While it has yet even to begin, what role can you play in getting it underway?

The purpose of this series, The Christian Evangelist, is found within the subtitle, i.e., to go therefore and make disciples in our own community. The obligation of every Christian is to proclaim the Good News, teach Bible doctrine, and make disciples. Keep in mind that Jesus is coming at the day and hour that we do not know. He specifically asks, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:8

While it is true that evangelists have written some books over the last 20 years, which recommend that we refocus our energy from the missionary field to our own local communities outward, it has been slow to take hold. The need to get onboard with this objective is imperative, yet many have been slow to respond, if at all. Hence, in view of the work that lies ahead, that of proclaiming the Good News, teaching, making disciples, let us make the best of the time that remains.

We need a tool to help us along the way. The author of this series has penned a book for Christians and their congregation, which will enable them to begin an evangelism program. You can help by reading this book yourself, and then promoting it to your congregation. THE EVANGELISM HANDBOOK: How All Christians Can Effectively Share God's Word in Their Community, is a practical guide (for real life application) in aiding all Christians in sharing biblical beliefs, the Good News of the Kingdom, how to deal with Bible critics, overturning false beliefs, so as to make disciples, as commanded by Christ. (Matthew 28:19-20) After a Christian or a church has completed The Evangelism Handbook, this series, The Christian Evangelist is designed as evangelism food, to sustain continued growth.
