This is an absurd story about a tomato that has the ability to speak and sing. Tommy the Tomato Is discovered by a farmer who is on his way to the market when he hears singing coming from the back. He finds Tommy and is shocked to see a tomato with human features. The farmer and his wife are struggling to make ends meet on their farm. They're in their 60's and their crops don't seem to bring in as much money as they used to. They live in a small town and planned on spending their golden years there but they may have to sell their house to make way for condominiums. When John the farmer learns of a local talent show in his area, he decides to enter Tommy into the competition.

This story is based on a tomato my Dad found in his garden a couple of years ago. It is the same tomato that is on the cover of the book. We were struck by how life-like the tomato looked with two little eyes, a mouth, and even a tongue. Originally this was going to be a children's poem but then I started to write a story about a tomato that sings and talks. There are pop culture references and an unintentional parallels to the story of Superman.

This book is ridiculous and meant to be humourous. I had a blast writing it. Usually I make rough notes before I type out my story but this time, the ideas just flowed onto the screen.
