Vice-Chancellor August Winthrop, second in command of a human colony on a distant planet called Orilia Minori, has just been informed of an illegal cloning model called the Aphrodite Design.

The Aphrodites have been cloned using unauthorized DNA including the cells of colonists who have passed away. The newest models, the Aphrodite 4 which have been cloned using suspicious methods are rescued just before they’re about to be sold off planet and Winthrop soon discovers that one of them is the clone of his beloved wife, Zara, who died 20 years earlier while in a cryogenic sleep traveling to Orilia.

Stunned and heartbroken that his wife’s memory has been violated, the matter is further complicated when due to the unconventional cloning process, she wakes up with all of his wife’s memories intact, believing she’s waking up from her cryogenic sleep.

As much as August wants to accept her and renew the happiness he had with Zara, he fears he’d be betraying his wife by replacing her with her own clone. Meanwhile, new

Zara is devastated when the man she recognizes as her husband views her as an imposter and continues to try in vain to move on without him.
