The work of analysis is structured in three parts devoted respectively to literature, journalism and the combination of the two.

As regards the scope of the literature will be analyzed some novels set in Afghanistan purely contemporary writers such as the recent Khaled Hosseini which , with its only three novels, has managed to capture a wide audience , including so-called " non-readers " and exploit fame to contribute financially ( and not only) the reconstruction and revival of the battered state using websites, blogs and various aid ( when the technology changes worldwide in the country) ; or the Italian Paolo Giordano , after the best-selling " The Solitude of Prime Numbers" translated into over 40 languages , he has experimented in his latest novel to recount the experiences of a platoon of Italian soldiers on a mission in Afghanistan.

The second part will be dedicated to journalists, reporters and photojournalists who are called to carry out their work sent defying danger and difficulties , cultural and environmental .

Finally, the last chapter will be devoted to the admixture of literature and journalism through the testimonies of journalists - writers who , using interviews and field research , published literary works that take the value of documentation and testimony.

Combine the two areas is the best solution, but this is not enough . That the stories are true , invented or reconstructed, does not matter.

The words are unfortunately not sufficient . In a critical situation such as that in Afghanistan the stories are of little use unless they are accompanied by a synergistic and lasting .

For this literature and journalism serve to guide public opinion and encourage individuals to make a difference.

This is how local organizations such as PARSA , Women for Afghan women , HAWCA a host of other international organizations such as Bpeace , Vital Voices without forgetting the Khaled Hosseini Foundation or the Foundation Maria Grazia Cutuli which will be discussed . That's when the writing makes the difference.

Afghanistan is often forgotten to make room for the new realities such as the current situation in Syria. To this becomes even more significant is the recognition given only a few months ago by the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano to Barbara De Anna , an official Italian International Organization for Migration (IOM) , who lost his life last June 21, 2013 in Kabul following a Taliban attack in which she suffered severe burns.

For the first time the family was assigned to the Grand Cross of Honour Order of the Star of Italy, an award established in 2011 to those who have lost their lives or suffered severe impairments during humanitarian work abroad.

The silence should not act as a master in these situations as dramatic . For this reason I have chosen to deal with a subject so tragic and controversial so that you do not walk from silence to oblivion.
