As German armed forces invade Norway in 1940, six Americans are stranded as the bombs drop around them. Their lives get more complicated when a wounded British soldier arrives on their doorstep. He desperately needs help, and the only help to be found is with the Germans. Consequently, Professor Wes Burton leads the Americans as they are escorted through Nazi Germany by the Nazi regime itself.

The Americans hold their secrets close as they begin to realize just how menacing the Germans have become in their efforts to control Europe and beyond. Wes and the Americans simply hope to get out unscathed, with their secrets intact. Their goal is Genoa, Italy; it is there where they need to board an American ship and sail to New York. They have ten days to do it. It is possibly their last chance to flee continental Europe as World War II grows in scope and intensity.
