The Minarh's home planet is about to be ravaged by a solar storm and it's surface will become a shadow of what it once was as it is decimated by failing power plants and high radiation. To save their civilisation, the Minarh do the only thing they can and retreat to the relative safety of underground, where they have remained for over three hundred years. Now, after an unfortunate cave-in, a Minarh named Longell is taken from the existence he understands and is thrown on to the surface of a planet his people once called home. He lays on the brink of death until discovered by an ambassador’s traitorous son (Karz’n). With the help of a boy coming to terms with a instinctive decision to betray his loving father’s trust, Longell must negotiate and fight his way to the monument which marks the entrance to the underground city. Once back, he can inform his people that it is safe to return to the surface. However, things prove difficult when he discovers a tribe of Nomads have settled on the planet and their government have no intention of leaving.
Together, the two of them need to discover the truth and avoid capture, not only from the mysterious Nomads who lay claim to Longell's home but also from the crew of Karz'n's ship, The Honesty.
Surface is a story of an unexpected friendship, what people will do when the situation turns desperate and coming to terms with your own guilt in the quest to do the right thing.
