Summer Dreams: Ode to Carol

Carol and Andy’s recent discovery of their true feelings for each deepens as their story unfolds in this particular work. Andy also is befriended (as much as he befriends) Audrey, who becomes his new confidant when he is transferred to a new store back in his home state. Audrey does much for him to understand the complex person that a woman is. She offers valuable input into what Andy should expect and what he should give as his relationship with Carol develops. Andy ventures into his memory bank, recalling two incidents in his youth that help him to understand the passage from young adult with self-importance to a more mature responsible one. Carol, on her part, develops the maturity that Andy always admired. Her own career is expanding, but there are some incidents that create havoc for the two, both personally and philosophically. Can they survive them?
