It's an ancient tradition among the Christians, especially in Catholic and Anglican domains, to celebrate the Stations of the Cross, also Way of the Cross or simply The Cross especially in the Holy Week and Good Friday.

If You search in the internet for these terms (Google, Wikipedia etc.), You'll read that there are some differences within this celebrations. In this ebook a Stations of the Cross with 14 stations is shown. Here You'll see all the 14 rich colored cast iron plates as shown in Rieden. The plates are shown separated from the masoned shrine like columns of the single stations with the descriptions of the scenes in English, French and German. The middle part of the column is bearing the inscriptions of the single scenes in German language on walled slabs. This texts are shown under the German description, it differs sometimes.

This Stations of the Cross were first consecrated on May 22nd 1891 and last restored in 1996. The names of the donators for the last restaurations (shown on a little brass plate right down on the columns) are shown down the slabs texts at the single pictures below. The detailed history of this Way of the Cross is shown on a plate at the chapel on top of the hill, between the last stations. All 14 stations are in the same columns. The way, is about 120 m in length.

Rieden is in the south of Amberg in the Oberpfalz a district of Bavaria in Germany (an easy map is included). It is between Ensdorf and Vilshofen (see Book 1 and 2 of this series).
