The 1970s & 80s were times of political and economic tumult and changing social roles and values. Within this structure young women often struggled with their rising expectations struggling against traditional roles for women.

Soul String Saga is a series of five novellas. Each follows Brenna (B.J.) Kelly’s triumphs, sorrows, and loves amidst that backdrop. It’s an American Downton Abbey, complete with international travels, deadly enemies, and personal growth.

Book 1 opens with B.J. in her early twenties and a grad student. The year is 1970, and despite the campus turmoil B. J. stays focused on her classes and her grades. She has goals and intends to achieve them. This characteristic proves one of her defining characteristics as she moves from grad student to professional woman starting her own business.

In each novella to follow we see her mature and grow professionally. With each book she faces challenges in her personal and professional live. These experiences alter and sometimes enhance her path to success. Along the way we see her gather friendships and enemies while her power and prestige increases. When she least expects it, she finds love and loses it in the same way. When this happens she pulls herself from her grief in setting her goals higher and filling her schedule with work.

No matter how many years pass, how society changes along with world events, nothing alters the hatred of one man whose encounter with her in the graduate school library stacks changed his life and forged his hatred of her. This hatred culminates almost twenty years later when he threatens her life about the same time a trip brings back into her life the man she fell in love with in her twenties.

Soul String, Book 1

Goals, grades and graduation—these produce the fire in BJ’s belly until a certain guy named Caleb eases into her heart while another goes for her throat.

Soul String: The Key, Book 2

Building her new business expands her professional reputation globally only to threaten her personal life. Hard choices greet Brenna as she edges toward her mid twenties.

Soul String: Broken, Book 3

     A proposal goes astray…

Brenna is in her late-twenties when Caleb proposes. Her hesitation followed by her promise to do so—someday—sets in motion changes which could rip them apart. Can these two soul mates agree to walk the same path hand in hand?

Soul String: Passport, Book 4

Land a contract. Have passport, will travel. Falling in love optional…

A trip to London lands Brenna a new contract and a multitude of career opportunities that take her around the world and into the arms and heart of a man who offers his heart without fencing her in. Her choice changes their lives forever.

Soul String: Full Circle, Book 5
Brenna finally has it all…then she doesn’t.

Brenna has success in her career, the love of a man who worships her, a stepdaughter who likes her. She’s achieved what she set out to do in her early 20s—beyond even her biggest dreams. People call her superwoman. Some call her far worse. She and Quinn, her husband, are referred to as the “Power Couple.”

But when she’s facing forty, life steps in when unexpectedly she finds herself a widow. Once again she must rebuild her life and forge new goals. These new roads bring her full circle back to defend herself against old enemies and rediscover a love that never died.
