Sold a Part of Life

He stepped into the house and found a few papers scattered on the floor. He bent down and picked a few of them. He found two envelopes, a post card, and a folded piece of paper. The postman may have pushed these letters inside the house. It was almost dark inside the house, so he was unable to read the senders’ names.

He groped his way to the staircase on the right side of the door and found the electric switch board there. When he used to live here, he could move around without any difficulty even in darkness, but now it was different.

Eventually, his hand found the electric switch board and he pressed the first button. Nothing happened. He was surprised and confused. He thought perhaps the electric bulb near the staircase was not working. He pressed some other buttons but there was no light in the house.
