Sociological Foundation of Education

Education is a social process. It has a social function and above all, it originates in response to social needs and problems. The two-fold relationship between education and society education being both the product and the producer of the social environment, is quite evident. The School, it has been rightly said, is created by society to re-create society. Consequently, an adequate back-ground of sociological knowledge is indispensable for the proper understanding of the various educational problems.
