Katie Waters lost her mother at a very young age, and her father left soon after, abandoning her to the orphanage. Despite these early hardships, she grew to be an artist, inspired by the people and natural world around her. Slices of Life is just that: slices of Katies life, little snippets that meant something and linger on in memory. She remembers finding a family in the orphanage: A year passed; l was lined up with all the others, white dress, socks, and shoes, and stood there, patiently waiting. They paced and looked along the line to choose which one. l raised my arms to be picked up. l was chosen, then taken home to meet my new brothers and family. A whole new life had begun. Katie is grateful for all the lessons that have crossed her path in life so far, teaching her forgiveness, strength, courage, and understanding. She has found joy in life as a lonely artist, able to observe and enlighten the people around her. Hers is a collection of awakening as she beckons readers to relax, listen, and perhaps find unexpected wisdom of their own.
