Ethel Turner (1873 – 1958) was an English-born Australian novelist and children's literature writer. One of her best-known works is her first novel named Her best-known work is her first novel, «Seven Little Australians», which is widely considered a classic of Australian children's literature and was an instant hit both in Australia and overseas. Seven Little Australians by Ethel Turner is a well known novel which became a reason for a number of prestigious literary awards for Turner and can be easily classed as one of Austalia's best-loved authors. The seven children of the title live in 1880s Sydney with their father, an army Captain who has little understanding of his children, and their 20-year-old stepmother Esther, who can exert little discipline on them. After an owful fact of Captain Woolcot's child death, he is trying to make his best to treasure his remaining children a little more.
