The world is divided into the powerful and the necessary. Daywalkers are powerful, they run governments, advise royalty, help run the earthly realm as smoothly and seamlessly as possible. Weres are necessary, they make up the bulk of the armies, the Guard and the elite faction called Guardians. These are specifically trained Were whose sole purpose is to protect the Daywalkers from assassins, political enemies and Nightwalkers. Together, they have kept the earthly realm and the cryptos that live there, in relative safety.
But there are other realms, other cryptos, that do not care about anything but power. The war that has been raging in the Fae realm for almost two thousand years has threatened to spill over and engulf the earthly realm for a long time. Then, twenty years ago, it went quiet. The threat retreated, the Fae stopped their advances on the earthly realm and, instead, seemed to be waiting.
Caleb Dawson had longed to be a member of the Guard all his young life. Unfortunately, family matters meant that it was a more viable option to become the Guardian to the youngest son of a powerful Daywalker family, Rayden Doyle. It's an uneasy partnership, to say the least, and Caleb isn't sure he can cope with his crazy genius charge.
Then things change, secrets come to light about both young men, secrets long buried in their blood. And nothing will ever be the same.
