Charles Montgomery Skinner (1852-1907) was an American writer who published myths and legends collection books. His dream was to make American folklore heritage more glorious. Skinner worked in a wide range of genres, he worked as a journalist and a playwright. Sacrifice of the Toltecs is a brief legend by Charles Montgomery Skinner about darkness and terror of Toltec civilization. Centuries ago it was a strong civilization with it's extension over Arizona and the whole West. But after many years of prosperity a fierce natural disaster came to this land in a face of awful earthquakes. In order to stop unlimited destruction of cities and villages, the king of Toltec offered his daughter to the underground spirits as pure gift of a human sacrifice.
