Meet Nina (aka NoNo because she never takes "No" for an answer) Hollis. She lost her mother and her teenage years to drugs and the foster system when her mother chose drugs and her boyfriends over her children. Lucky for her she had one person in her life who cared enough to risk his own life saving her from being molested as a child: Miles Loren Grant her cousin. Too bad she lost him to senseless street/ gang violence and now that she’s all grown up she’s got to figure out a way to keep her and her six younger brothers and sisters together and away from the street and thug life that has claimed so much of their young lives. She has committed to being the “mother” to her siblings and refuses to lose any of her children to the street life or gangs. She works the graveyard shift while attending college working on her Bachelors so that she can provide a better standard of living for them.
It’s not easy, but yes it’s worth it; they’re living under one roof as a family since the state of Il awarded her guardianship of them after a long custody battle and establishing that she could provide for them. So why is her little brother Nick Hollis doing all that he can to emulate the thug lifestyle of their dead cousin Miles Loren Grant (aka MM) as a gangster? Nono is determined to save her brother from that lifestyle or die trying.
