Stacin of Banur has grown up knowing that at his sixteenth birth celebration his eldest sister, Katrine, will give him the 300-yea-old message left for him by the sorcerer Kylet in the Wolkarean Inscription.

As his birthdate nears Stacin has a premonition showing him that he must go to Shokareen, the land of his people’s enemies, but he is warned that if Katrine finds out, she will go in his place and die.

Determined to protect his sister, Stacin prepares in secret to embark on a perilous venture that will span two continents. First, though, he must find the individuals who are destined to stand with him, one of whom is the brother who betrayed Katrine fifteen years earlier.

With the assistance of only a handful of allies Stacin must us his emerging mystical powers to close a crack in the seals that were erected seven millennia ago by the Eleven Great Shokai Sorcerers to keep demonkind in the Underworld.

Repairing the break and reinforcing the seals will take all of Stacin’s strength, and that of his companions, because the Demon Lord, Rulianthabah, is determined to destroy the barriers entirely so his people can once again ravage the Aboveground.
