Reflections on Contemprorary Issues: Democracy, Terrorism, jihad, and other issues

The book is an exposition of some contemporary issues like democracy, jihad and terrorism. What is democracy? What are its sine qua non? Does even United States' democracy fulfils the essentials? Pakistan is focused in particular within the historical context. How far Pakistan's democracy fulfils Aristotle's visualisations? What are obstructions to democracy in Pakistan. Though focus is on Pakistan, many other countries fit in the framework . What is holy war (jihad).? Holy wars not only under Islam but also under Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism are focused. The writer has a broader view of the subjects he has dealt with. He has banked on available research on the subjects. Having seen both overt and covert life in his country, he had taken a broader and deeper view of the subjects than armchair analysts. He has served in various positions with t with Inter-Services Intelligence. Before joining the ISI, he had served the local government (counties) as principal officer. In LG, he came across all strata of society. He thus has intimate knowledge of socio-economic milieu in Pakistan. He is the only writer in Pakistan who has been contributing since his teens to leading dailies at home and abroad.
