“Reflections” is an inspirational novel, about Miss Samantha Staberio and her journey of overcoming sexual abuse. Whilst growing up in South Africa and her journey with the taboo subjects that her culture has deemed as something they don't talk about.

Samantha's sexuality, her relationships with her family, friends and the two men who were part of her life, over a time span of 25 years, were topics that she refrained from discussing with anyone. Having been sexually abused at the age of 12 until 14 by a relative, she experienced immoral love and lust. She befriends Ulrich, at a young age of 13 and thinks she has fallen in love. Samantha comes from a poor family and lived with her mother, brother and sister. She became comfortable in her young adult life, while she worked hard to pay the bills as her father had passed away in her early teens. People are envious over her, due to her infectious passion for life. Samantha tries very hard to please everyone, has several jobs and is always looking for opportunities to make more money. She is a sexual being and feels that men cannot fulfil her needs. Which; leads her into the underworld of prostitution. Wherever she goes, she experiences men trying to take advantage of her.

This is her contribute experience, confluence of ideas and values which derives from the exceptional times that she has lived through.
