Cilla is a beautiful young idealistic woman living in New York in a dingy apartment with her boyfriend and their friends. After she walks out of her job in a diner in Manhattan she returns to her apartment where her lover roughs her up.

Unwilling to put up with his abusive behaviour Cilla leaves and heads west to California with her friend Lilly.

Once there Cilla discovers the streets are indeed paved with golden stars and when she meets the beautiful Madeline Woodmeade and her director husband, Philip, Cilla believes that she has landed on her feet.

Madeline befriends Cilla and helps her find a talent agent but only one thing stands in her way; she's an illegal immigrant and has little chance of procuring a green card.

Not letting her illegal status stop her, Cilla changes her name to Rapture Adoravel and becomes a top model and actress.

Hollywood is at her feet but for Rapture fame comes at a very high price and she soon discovers that she has to pay it or be deported.

Rapture discovers that all in tinsel town doesn't sparkle and Hollywood is a commodity where people are like stocks their value goes up and down at a whim and falling from grace hits the hardest...
