With their trail effectively dead, Amanda is left pondering not just the fate of her stay in Egypt, but also her relationship with Nathan.
The expedition takes an expected and seductive turn when breakthroughs on both of these fronts emerge...

Excerpt:
The café was dimly lit and not very large. It was also almost entirely empty except for a handsome dark haired man sitting a corner table by himself in the very back. That must have been the man that we were meeting. As we drew closer I realized that I had seen his face before. In fact, I knew exactly who he was. Maximilian Scholz. A very well known German archaeologist. In many ways, he might have even been considered a rival of Nathan’s, but the two could hardly be compared. While Nathan spent his time traipsing about the world looking for treasure and worrying about his charming roguish image, Scholz happened to be a very well respected scholar.
As we sat down, he raised an eyebrow.
“Mr. Bradley,” he said in a thick German accent. “I was unaware that you would be bringing a friend. To whom do I owe this pleasure?” He directed that last question at me.
“Amanda Carver,” I said, extending my arm for a handshake. I was surprised when he did not shake my hand, but instead took it in his own and drew it towards him so that he could kiss the back of it.
“It is very well to meet you, Ms. Carver. Tell me… you are not the same Amanda Carver that wrote the wonderful article on the burial procedures of the many wives of Ramesses II in Archaeology Quarterly a couple years ago, no?”
The question took me aback just a little. I wasn’t even aware that there was anyone who had actually read that article, much less remembered it afterwards. I began to blush.
“That’s me.”
“Ah, brilliant. We are in good company then, I see. Tell me… why are you wasting your time accompanying a scoundrel like this man here?” He motioned towards Nathan.
I could tell Nathan was starting to become annoyed.
