The Malo Kemp Assignments, #1

Malo Kemp, independent trader, is slumped in a bar in the canal district of the Northern Settlement when he's roused by a call from a mysterious client. 

He decides to sober up and take the job, which requires him to carry one passenger and some very precious cargo across the vast hostility of space. His companion for the trip is the attractive and enigmatic Miranda, who offers no explanation for what they're carrying. Malo buries his doubts, thinks about the fee, and uses the ubiquitous jump gates to hop across the galaxy trade routes.

Before the journey ends the past catches up with him, and he finds that neither Miranda nor her cargo are quite what they seem. As things begin to fall apart Malo has to take a long hard look at himself and make a choice.
