Pondicherry is a short story to introduce a significant setting in the novel, The Star of India, which is available online today. Pondicherry, India is a destination to the past as well as the present. Located on India's Coromandel Coast, Pondicherry celebrates its French colonial history, blends it with the local Tamil culture, and fills the senses of visitors with a rich and varied heritage that is spiced with grace and hospitality. Such a place tempts the theme traveler. The theme: Find traces of the French East India Company.
The Star of India is a three-part novel, and the second of three novels in a three book series. Part I introduces the reader to a young French aristocrat who was groomed to become a world-shaper when he joined the French East India Company. Part II develops him further, and shapes him to become an enabler in the drama. The 1740-1762 story of The Star of India is set in French India (the location of the bayside city of Pondicherry), the Indian Ocean island of Ille de France, the African island of Madagascar, the African port of Ouidah, and on or near various islands of the Caribbean Sea. Part III is a bonus book that continues the saga of the Methodists from New Mill Creek, who were introduced in the first novel of the series, titled, A Voice from New Mill Creek: The Methodists.
