Platinum Rim centers on Amber Thompson's life as she works as an airline pilot and prepares to get married within three days. Due to a coworkers sudden illness, Amber has to fill in and fly an unfamiliar route just before her wedding. On the flight, JR her new coworker is strange and difficult to work with. Also, there is an Alzheimer patient who managed to get on the flight and is flying alone. Amber's fiancé, Steven Swenson, works in Hollywood as an actor. He is usually devoted to Amber, yet misses the dress rehersal because of a surprise bachelor party. This latest action, as well as Steve's role as 'leading man,' raises doubts in Amber's mind as the clock ticks closer to the big day. Ellen, the wedding planner, tries to smooth things out all along the way, however, she is struggling with a personal matter that she tries to keep on the back burner. Amber's parents come to grips with losing their precious, only child to a struggling actor. Steven's divorced parents, Harry and Shelly, are at odds with one another. Yet, as the wedding unfolds, Harry's rough persona softens and Shelly let's her pent up feelings be heard at the reception. Although she has worked hard to make her wedding everything she wanted, certain unforeseen happenings seem determined to stop her and Steven from finally getting married.
