Here's an excerpt--
In their first tournament together ever, Natalie Colquist and Rick Stolich advanced through a field of thirty-two mixed doubles teams to the finals. Their opponents were Darla and Max Weinstein from Columbus, Georgia.
“Watch out for these two,” Walt said. “They've been on the circuit for years, and they're tough to beat. You can beat them, but it will be hard.”
Shirley added, “Max lives and dies by his spin. Let all of his shots hit the ground first, then try for them. If you try to hit it as a volley, you have no way of knowing where it's going to go, but usually to your left. Darla is a straightforward dinker and a good one. If you take her on in a dink-and-see game, you two could be at the kitchen line all day long. She's very patient.”
Walt continued. “Rick, you can go to your power shots sooner and more often than you otherwise would. Throw them off their pace.”
Natalie was pumped up big time. “Oh, baby, this is so cool. I can't believe that we're actually playing to win a goddamn pickleball tournament. I am soooo stoked, I can't stand it!”
Rick took her by the arm and turned her toward him. He kissed her sweetly, yet firmly. He wanted it to sink in. “There. Better now? Have you calmed down? Too much excitement begets too much adrenaline, begets overplaying, begets mistakes. We're too close to doing something terrific to let a little too much excitement get in the way.”
“Thanks, honey. You know what Joan told me?”
“I think I overheard something about Pickleball is for....”
“She said, 'Pickleball is for lovers'. I think it's true. I'm okay now. Let's play some pickleball.”

And more! -- They quietly walked up to the cottage door. Rick opened it. They walked in. They closed the door behind them and put their backpacks down. It was then that Natalie let loose all of her pent-up excitement. She lunged at Rick, pinned him against the door, and grabbed at his clothes.
“Get these damn things off, God, please! I can't stand it anymore, honey. I have got to have you, like, right now!”
Rick's reaction was just as fast. He pulled her tank top up and over her head in an instant. “A little turned on, are you?”
“Less words, more you,” she moaned. “I am so hot right now.” She stripped her skort off and tossed it over her shoulder.
“Why don't we go into the bedroom,” Rick suggested in between her savage kisses.
“There's not enough time for that before I blow up,” she pleaded. “I can't wait. I just can't wait!” She scooted herself onto the massive dining room table that was only a few feet away and pulled him on top of her. “Here! Now! We don't need no stinking bed.”
