The singer Paul McCartney celebrated the age of 70, without thinking too much about his legendary past, just a few months after a new marriage and a new album release.
Retirement from music is not a part of the famous British singer’s plans. After his impeccable performance in the giant pop-rock concert recently held in London to mark the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, Paul McCartney was the headline of the official opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics on July 27 2012.
"Since I really like what I do, why would I retire?" said McCartney in an interview for a music magazine. Then he added: "People tell me: <> But we don’t work hard, we simply make music.".
The British singer has seen fulfilled one of his childhood dreams, becoming an animated character in the latest issue of the printed comic The Dandy, one of his favorite publications. Invited in 1963 in an interview with New Musical Express magazine, he revealed his fans one of his ambitions, saying he wants very much his picture to appear in The Dandy.
"I hope it's not too late!", said in a letter the 70 years old British artist. He admitted The Dandy was his favorite magazine since he was a little child (“In the period when I was living in Liverpool, and I was looking forward each week to discovering the new adventures of the character Desperate Dan and his story fellows "). In the last number of the magazine, the Paul McCartney character first appears in a drawing that presents him with a grimace on his face, when Desperate Dan gives him a very firm handshake. In the following drawings, McCartney is singing, alongside 50 of the most famous characters of the magazine, The Beatles song "Hey Jude".
Paul McCartney’s decision of leaving The Beatles and building a solo career was the subject of comic volume that wishes to offer its fans a new perspective on the collapse of the famous British group. This book, entitled "Paul McCartney: Carry That Weight" is the third book published by Bluewater Productions about The Beatles band, who broke up in 1970.
The speculation about the facts that led to the collapse of the British group ranges from artistic differences to legal dispute between members of the British band or even to John Lennon’s marriage with the Japanese artist Yoko Ono. Paul McCartney said that The Beatles, which also included George Harrison and Ringo Starr, was about to fall apart before John Lennon met Yoko Ono.
A drawing in pencil, made by Paul as a child, was sold at auction for $ 5,658. The drawing was made back in the 50s, while Paul was a student at the Liverpool School Boys. The piece of paper is in good condition, except for a stain that is thought to have been caused by a tear fallen on the drawing.
